True Origin was born as a result of the brotherhood that existed between 4 of South Africa’s top musicians/performing artists, namely: Revaughn Sackanary, Nathaneal Barthus, Liam Webb and Ryan Sackanary.
Brought together through friendship and a love and passion for music and Inspired by Nature, True Origin are driven by Humanity and lead by the soul as they create a new sound through their unity, a collaboration of 4 exceptional talents.
True Origin are one of South Africa’s premier bands, producing and performing their own original music as well as performing as a professional backing band to local and international artists.
With much appreciation, knowledge, experience and respect for many genres of music, True Origin are masters at entertaining, whether it be Pop, Rock, R+B, Soul, Jazz, Blues, Origin are versatile and deliver a consummate performance every time!
Revaughn Sackanary
Driven by the sound of bass and the melodic waves that emanate from the Bass Guitar, Revaughn became hooked on the Bass Guitar from the early age of 8. Born of a musical family where his siblings were all encouraged to play the drums, Revaughn initially played drums before falling in love with the Bass Guitar.
With his intense drive and passion, doors opened in the industry and Revaughn was exposed to many styles and genres of music as he began recording albums, and co-producing music for international artists. As the journey continued to pursue a music career, more avenues opened up allowing Revaughn to music direct shows in and around Cape Town for various artists and organisations/corporates.
Revaughn’s experience in, and exposure to the music industry at an early stage in his life as well as a love for everything that happens behind the scenes before the audience sees the final product, helped to steer his career and ambitions in wanting to be a renowned Music Director.
Currently, National Music Director at School Of Rock South Africa – Revaughn has achieved his goal, putting his dreams into reality from directing shows and inspiring young and upcoming musicians, to sharing knowledge about the industry, and being a positive influence by guiding and mentoring them through their music careers.
Revaughn currently also teaches music at the acclaimed School of Rock in Claremont, Cape Town.
Revaughn has had the pleasure and privilege of performing with many local and international artists on various stages around the world throughout his career.
Liam Webb
Born and raised in Cape Town, Liam started playing drums in church when he was just 10 yrs old. Liam’s talent was quickly noticed by his music teacher at junior school and he very soon became a regular feature during school assemblies and music concerts. Liam completed his formal grading in drums through the Beau Soleil Music Centre in Cape Town before moving on to study music further at some of Cape Town’s finest institutions.
Liam has had the privilege of travelling across the world and taking his musical talents across borders, where he has performed on many an International stage over the years with various artists both local and International.
Liam’s energy and passion and love for music and particularly drums and percussion in general have earned him much respect and admiration from many of his peers in the music industry both locally and abroad. Liam currently Heads up the Drum Department at the acclaimed School of Rock in Cape Town. Liam enjoys teaching students the art of playing drums as he invests time and energy mentoring and guiding the youth through music.
Liam is Family orientated and enjoys spending time with his kids/family whenever he can.
Ryan Sackanary
Ryan is a professional pianist from Cape Town. He is known for his exceptional talent and unique style of playing. Ryan has been performing since a young age and has gained recognition both locally and internationally for his captivating performances. His versatility and expertise in various roles within the music industry have allowed him to collaborate with a wide range of artists and contribute to numerous successful projects.
His extensive experience has solidified his reputation as a highly sought-after musician in Cape Town's vibrant music scene.
Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to explore various genres and work with musicians from different backgrounds. Additionally, he has also composed original music for jazz and gospel albums and kids nursery rhyme albums, further expanding his creative repertoire.
Besides being very involved in the local music industry, Ryan also teaches music as he aims to inspire future generations of Piano players to hone their skills.
In his free time Ryan enjoys spending time with his family as it helps him recharge and find inspiration in the simple joys of life.
Nathaneal Barthus
Nathaneal is a professional musician hailing from Cape Town, South Africa. His passion for music began when he joined the church worship team ensemble, where he discovered his love for playing instruments and creating music. He then went on to study music and has since then been teaching music. Over the course of more than 12 years in the music industry, Nathaneal has honed his skills and developed a unique sound that draws influence from some of the greats in the industry, including Michelle Camillo, Chick Corea, Bob James, and Robert Glasper.
Nathaneal is a versatile musician who enjoys various aspects of music production,composition, and live performance.
He has a keen ear for melody and rhythm, which he incorporates into his own music to create a distinctive sound that resonates with audiences. Throughout his career, Nathaneal has worked with various artists and collaborated on numerous projects.
Nathaneal has a diverse range of interests. While music is a significant part of his life, Nathaneal is also pursuing a Bachelor of Law and Forensic Science Degree. He is deeply passionate about the field of law and the science behind criminal investigations. In addition to his academic pursuits, Nathaneal has a love for motorsports and anything that involves four wheels and racing. Nathaneal is known as the “King of the Keytar” - Synth Bass in particular, and he is a Master of the keys!
